Art Foundations 2D – What kind of PATTERN are you? What kind of LINE are you? Start with conversation about the drawing.

Matisse and pattern… how did he use it? What are the various motifs?

GOALS:

  1. (1.2) Create art that demonstrates an understanding of how your ideas relate to the principle of pattern.
  2. (3.2) apply ideas in art to solve visual challenges and communicate ideas (who are you? how do you represent that?).

ART FOUNDATIONS 2D: Watercolor Techniques and Experiments

Yesterday we saw ABSTRACTION… today what do you see? Water colored onions with thin layers… like an onion.

GOALS:

  1. (5.3) Describe meaning of artwork by analyzing technique and use of watercolor (what sort of emotions might you get by using certain colors?).
  2. (3.2) apply ideas in art to solve visual challenges of watercolors.

What types of lines are you in favor of using? Where do you find it easiest to use the idea of contour line to represent the face / form? What sorts of pattern do you think you would like to recreate with the use of WATERCOLOR to represent YOU? Share with your classmates.
