We get a good start to the week today. Stained Glass is STILL wrapping up, CIaD are working hard to continue developing Adobe Illustrator and the tools in there, Drawing and Advanced Drawing are working on NEW ideas with faces and abstraction, and finally AP Studio Art is going strong with the figure. I look forward to a great week. For your info, I will be gone Wednesday morning and all day Friday – WAEA State Show in Madison. Enjoy the studio time.

“Time is an Essential Element in All Media. Time reveals itself in two critical ways: the unfolding of the form and the experience of the viewer. Real-time duration implies a narrative structure or linear path, even if abstract, and delivers information and experience in measured units (film, performance, and video). In those cases, the viewer becomes a passive receiver. Recorded media, video, film, L.E.D. word displays, and computer simulations allow for the manipulation of time and the creation of temporal illusion. Time is a dimension.” 10 Kit White 101 Things to Learn in Art School Kit White © 2011 Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Kit White
Stained Glass: Finishing up and Designing Ideas
G: 1.1Ac: Individually or collaboratively formulate new creative problems based on student’s existing artwork.
- What is the focal point of the composition that you are designing? How does the rest of the space (negative space?) support the dominant portion of the work. How many pieces are you looking at?
- What challenges do you have in the conversation about the work in front of you? If you are NOT DONE – What are you doing to get things done?

- What skills are you developing in the process of stained glass? What can you do to continue to move this idea forward?
- What did the CRIT do for you today? How did it help you see the work you created and learn from the challenges you faced?
BY THE WAY: everything-stained-glass.com is a good site for your own personal research.
CIaD: Let’s Review the MODERNISM Assignment!
1.1Ac: Individually or collaboratively formulate new creative problems based on student’s existing artwork.

- How well does this illustration describe the music / artwork you are creating? Portrait is coming up in ADOBE PHOTOSHOP next week. If you have NOT done the RESEARCH and obtained your own SELFIES / Photographs you have work to do!
- What are you doing to rally challenge yourself with this assignment? If it is a DeStijl – Minimalist Modernist work – maybe have a SECOND one going that is more COMPLICATED.

- What successes did YOU have today? What do you hope to do with the hands and face in the upcoming drawing?
- What was the most challenging aspect for you to draw today? Why was this most difficult way to go? What is most important about drawing when it comes to observation?
AP Studio Art: Figure Drawing
2.1Ad: Experiment, plan, and make multiple works of art and design that explore a personally meaningful theme, idea, or concept.
- Beginning with a general idea of the figure and a reference with the models in the room – you will draw out the proportions and stance of the models for a few minutes and then transition to the more resolved human form.
- Looking at yesterday’s beginning drawings – What did you struggle with in the process, in the final product?
- What was the most challenging way to draw? Why was this most difficult way to go? How OFF were you from the original that you drew from your memory? What is most important about drawing when it comes to observation?
- What is most important about drawing when it comes to observation? GESTURE DRAWING
Adv. Drawing: New Abstract Drawing
1.2Ad: Choose from a range of materials and methods of traditional and contemporary artistic practices, following or breaking established conventions, to plan the making of multiple works of art and design based on a theme, idea, or concept.
- This is a new process for many of us. How is your drawing using the idea of MARK MAKING and CONTRAST to create the idea of SPACE?
- Stepping back from this large work before you begin, what are your first thoughts about your drawing as you start today? if need be and then onto the large drawings.

- What are you finding out about in the preliminary development of the work that has HELPED you move into the final drawing?
- How did your CHARCOAL treat you today? How are you working in the medium / scale?
