• This is the LAST DAY.. You are finishing this artwork today – and that is it. Critique and Rubric… That is the plan.

• Final days to draw your images. We will be using these as the final exam conversations. Critiques will be the final and you will present to the class. The images will be uploaded to a Google Slide with a brief artist statement. Make sure you are ready to roll on FRIDAY.

• This is the LAST WEEK. You are finishing this artwork this week and that is it. No TUESDAY WORK TIME. Remember, too EARLY is just as bad as finishing LATE. What are your plans for the week? Monday: Tuesday: Wednesday: Thursday: Friday: Critique and Rubric… That is the plan.

• Gather in small groups today. SEPARATE FROM YOUR normal group of friends – in fact… one, two, three, four, five, six… we will gather up randomly with numbers. Today we work out ideas using the rubric – the BACK of the RUBRIC and work through a mid critique. BE able to talk about THESE QUESTIONS:
  • What is the Story / Topic of your illustration.
  • What is the SECTION/ part / meaning of the story?
  • What techniques are you using? What program are you using?
  • What have you done to make any appropriated images your own?
  • Struggles / Accomplishments?

• This is DUE on WEDNESDAY and we will CRITIQUE it when you walk in the room. Some are STRUGGLING and some are  SOARING. What is your stance in this project? Please write out 5 sentences that describe where you are in the process and the challenges that you are facing.

• TODAY we begin with our LONG TERM Project. One piece of paper. One pose. No flipping it over. No practice sketches. No getting a new sheet. ONE WEEK. We will fill this page up and draw LARGE! We are not looking to make a masterpiece, but rather a REALLY WELL OBSERVED figure study. What have the challenges been with your drawing and the 4 days of preliminary and practice? What do you struggle with? What are you successful with?

• What are your plans for this portrait project? Remember that it is more than the simple redraw of their likeness. This drawing needs to get into the idea of THEM and their personality, their work, their being… but it is also YOUR ARTWORK. Next week we are installing a show in the gallery, and you are preparing a HUGE GOOGLE SLIDE SHOW of ALL OF YOUR WORKS!

• we are rotating through one another and doing TWO FIGURE DRAWINGS per class Next week we are working with ONE FIGURE ALL WEEK. the following week… Cleaning and resolving the figure drawing. Final exam will be a critique of the figure work. What are your fears of the figure? What challenges do you see when it comes to the figure?
