Hello All (and especially acash93) – I got an inquisitive question about roof design from acash93 on YouTube this morning (hello again) and rather than a simple reply (which they did get back from me and a redirect to here) I drew out the explanation for a better understanding. I hope this helps.

Studio Art 360 – Let’s Talk Photography and the In’s and Out’s

Goals:
- 1.2P: Shape an artistic investigation of an aspect of present-day life using a contemporary practice of art or design.
- What stories could you tell using a camera that documents your present-day life? What could you do to make an everyday “boring” part of the day interesting and inviting?
- Photograph the EVERYDAY part of school – candid – opening lockers, taking a drink, how can you make it interesting?

Did today / this week move you toward a successful week of work? Do you feel that taking work home this weekend will be a good idea?
AP Studio Art – Concentration – 3 new works – PLAN and DEVELOP! Investigate!
MONDAY – CHAPTER 2 in Art and Fear Responses DUE on the BLOG.
LAST 10 minutes… CRIT ONE ANOTHER!

Goals:
- 2.3Ad: Demonstrate in works of art or design how visual and material culture defines, shapes, enhances, inhibits, and/or empowers people’s lives.
- How will your audience be MOVED by the work you are presenting? Remember that one of the CRITERIA is all about creating work that is moving and engaging?
What work are you planning for this weekend? Be specific… What are you going to set time aside for and work on?
Stay on TARGET. FIGURE in your SPACE and COMPOSE a good GOAL for yourself.

Art Foundations: Last 1/2 hour to work… Are you coming in after school to pick up pastels?

Goals:
- 4.4 evaluate and interpret your art for relationships in 4.4.1 form 4.4.2 context and 4.4.3 meanings showing understanding of the work of various art professionals* ANSWER THIS FOR YOUR GOALS? What relationships do you see between your work and the ORIGINAL Scientists vision of the microorganism?
What was the best and the worst part of the work? What are you going to take into your next major artwork that you learned from this artwork? What makes you stop and THINK about the work you have seen bu others?
Drawing: FINAL DAY! These are AWESOME – Get Ready to WRITE about the work as you make your artist statement!

Goals:
- 4.4 evaluate and interpret your art for relationships in 4.4.1 form 4.4.2 context and 4.4.3 meanings showing understanding of the work of various art professionals* – Answer this for your GOALS: What are the STRONG relationships you have with Kandinsky in his work and yours?
What did you take away from this overall DEEP and difficult project?
AP Studio Art: 1 Drawing today – 20 minute reclining figure – How about looking at a Henry Moore instead of the Mary Cassatt.

Goals:
- 2.3 create artworks that solve visual challenges – ANSWER THIS: What has been the BIGGEST CHALLENGE you have faced with the idea / activity of the figure drawing? How will you handle 20 minutes today?
How did things go today? Look at everyones drawings and make comments about their figure drawings in their binders.
What did you hope to gain from yesterday? What do you hope to gain from today?
While in class we set goals in class based on the N.V.A.S. and the N.E.T.S… let’s take a look at our individual picture for a moment. Please think about the larger goal (NVAS) that is presented, but write out what we were hoping to gain from these experiences. It is always good to “look into the rear view mirror” to see who we were that made us who we are. Challenging to really see perhaps, but always good to think about and reflect upon.

Art Foundations: Microscopic Images make for some HUGE Successes. Great work across the board!

Goals:
- What does your pastel drawing say about how you understand the relationships in 4.4.1 form 4.4.2 context and 4.4.3 meanings? What were YOU hoping to learn or take away from this project?
REVIEW the work you have done for today. What do you need to do for tomorrow? What do you need to expand on, tweak? Share the ideas / challenges with your neighbors.
Drawing: What does your music say to you? Perhaps revisit the song and see if it takes you where you wanted to go.

Goals:
- What does your Kandinsky inspired pastel drawing say about how you understand the relationships in 4.4.1 form 4.4.2 context and 4.4.3 meanings? What were YOU hoping to learn or take away from this project?
How does your art compare with the work of “professionals” and how can you work to create a better understanding of your approach / intent / ideas? Please don’t think of worse than or better than, but rather compare / contrast, similar / different.
AP Studio Art: Great to be a GROUP again… Let’s draw MORE of US!

Goals:
- 3.2 apply our models poses, and idea of capturing the human form QUICKLY and use skill to capture that pose and form completely. What does this mean to you?
What are the strengths of the Composition? Where do you find the weaknesses in your work? How can you reflect tomorrow to change / alter / move forward from that?
HIT YOUR TARGET – If you miss – shoot again!
What goals have you set for yourself? Are they BIG and BOLD? Are they small and subtle? Regardless as to the goals you have, make them attainable – but not too easy… you may get bored, and not too difficult… you may get frustrated. Just make them a smidge out of reach so you have to stretch!

Art Foundations 2D: EXTENDED DEADLINES – So long as the GREAT WORK continues.

Goals:
- 2.3 Resolve (extended deadline) your pastel drawing as you solve visual challenges. ALSO Consider the reflection on your works.
What was the most interesting thing you took away from this process of two point perspective, pastel drawing, microscopic images? Talk to your neighbor about the project and have a REAL discussion.
Drawing: EXTENDED DEADLINES – So long as the GREAT WORK continues.
Goals:
- 2.4 compare Kandinsky’s points of view and your theory regarding composition and meaning in artwork. This is going to be the PAPER you present for this work… BE THOUGHTFUL – Korb will bring you up to speed.
As this develops, how are your ideas and Kandinsky’s similar and how are they different? What might you take away from this experience? How can you share that idea with the world? WRITE this out from the beginning of the hour. Has it Changed?
AP Studio Art: Gesture Drawing – Remember this stuff? Let’s see what you can do.

Goals:

1.2 create gesture drawings that demonstrates an understanding of how your ideas and observations (and mark making) relates to the 1.2.1 materials, 1.2.2 techniques, 1.2.3 and processes you use.

Art Foundations: 3 Days to RESOLVE your Work!

GOALS:
- 1.1 apply media, techniques, and processes with 1.1.1 skill, 1.1.2 confidence, 1.1.3 and awareness so that your ideas are executed well
What are questions that you feel will be worth talking about as you write about the drawing and the original image? Come up with 3 questions between the two of you and TURN THEM in on the notecards provided.

Collaboration and Sketchbooks – THIS WEEK we will be having a 5 minute conversation about the collaborative PEER / SELF Evaluation regarding your sketchbooks for the week. 10 minute before class ends, we will pair up with someone NEW and Self / Peer evaluate – and then hand them in!
- What is the benefit of sharing your sketchbook with your classmate?
- How can you learn to speak about your own sketches and ideas?
- How can you share your ideas with others?

Art Foundations 2D: Challenge with Staircases. You thought ROOFS were hard? HA! Wait until you try stairs.

GOALS:
- 1.4 create, and solve 2 Point Perspective STAIRS using 1.4.1 analysis (and a friend).
Review with neighbors the RULES of THUMB and discuss the Differences in one and two point perspective. What was the most challenging part of the stairs? What did you find similar in the process of drawing stairs that you have learned in drawing other objects in 2 point perspective?

Drawing: We critiqued yesterday – what did you take away from the process? What do you remember as being impressive or successful about the work you saw from others? How can you use some of the same ideas that your classmates have expressed?

- 2.2 Evaluate the effectiveness of your artwork (What is working? What needs working on?)
- 2.3 create artworks that solve visual challenges (How are you approaching the solution to the crinkled paper?)
Pair / Share – self – evaluation of the day – back of the goal sheet. Can you begin to see / hear a story in the work? What do you think the character in your drawing might be up to with that piece of paper? Write down your thoughts in today’s Goals Page – Journal Section.
