Welcome to the 2016 – 17 School year and to the Art Department – specifically – Mr. Korb’s Studio. This site will be a place we visit multiple times a week, so make sure you get to know the address. http://www.ArtWithKorb.com. Remind Instructions

As a returning artist / parent / guardian / educator one will note that the Interactive Handbook we have used in in the past are dramatically different this year. No longer are we using the 11″ x 8.5″ folder, but we have now changed to a 8.5″ x 5.5″ booklet. The weekly pages are a bit different also with fewer, but more probing reflections about the work you are creating. Let’s look them over TUESDAY of NEXT WEEK.

  • CANVAS was handed out in class and transferring of images should be accomplished for class on January 4. We’ve gone through this in class and they should have the concept figured out. Any missing sketchbooks NEED to be completed by Wednesday, January 6.

  • We went over the editing of images for the online portfolio in class and I have asked them to get a strong start on the photography and editing of the images over break.
  • As I said in class, I would rather not take a week away from making art in the computer lab when this is work they can accomplish on their own outside of class. Adobe Photoshop is NOT REQUIRED to edit the images for the online portfolio. I demonstrated using a Google App through Google Drive (Pixlr Editor) and the instructions are VERY MUCH THE SAME as if they were using Photoshop: instructions HERE: https://goo.gl/Upkwca
  • In addition to the online editing, I have asked them to upload images to their WEB Pages on the web: https://korbapartwuhs.wordpress.com/

Drawing AND Painting:

  • Both classes have work that they are either done with,finishing up over break, or shortly after break. I have photographed the works in progress and they can be found below. This critique will require some time (I would invest about an hour in the first writing and then whatever it takes to revise and edit). I would rather them get a start on it now than try to cram it in during the last few days of the semester (this is half of the final exam).

#AboutMonday – #ArtStudio

Remember that I will be in the ART ROOM at school on Monday, December 28 and Wednesday, December 30 from 9:00am – Noon. If you are interested in some OPEN STUDIO TIME or have questions that need answering, then is a good time. I know that the weather is going to be chancy so… be VERY careful in getting to school.   • We went over the editing of images for the online portfolio in class and I have asked them to get a strong start on the photography and editing of the images over break.
  • As I said in class, I would rather not take a week away from making art in the computer lab when this is work they can accomplish on their own outside of class. Adobe Photoshop is NOT REQUIRED to edit the images for the online portfolio. I demonstrated using a Google App through Google Drive (Pixlr Editor) and the instructions are VERY MUCH THE SAME as if they were using Photoshop: instructions HERE: https://goo.gl/Upkwca
  • In addition to the online editing, I have asked them to upload images to their WEB Pages on the web: https://korbapartwuhs.wordpress.com/

Drawing AND Painting:

  • Both classes have work that they are either done with,finishing up over break, or shortly after break. I have photographed the works in progress and they can be found below. This critique will require some time (I would invest about an hour in the first writing and then whatever it takes to revise and edit). I would rather them get a start on it now than try to cram it in during the last few days of the semester (this is half of the final exam).

Songs of Sanctuary: AP Studio Art 2015

Hello and HAPPY SATURDAY! Over the past two weeks, our AP Studio Artists have been working to put visual to the musical (Wassily Kandinsky inspired? The conversations around the studio mentioned his name a few times). Choir Director Mr. Derek Machan and his choirs at Waterford Union High School will be performing (January 9 and 10 100 Field Drive, Waterford, WI)  the music of Karl Jenkins, Songs of Sanctuary.

“I conceived Songs of Sanctuary in the European classical tradition, but it was my intention that the vocal sound should be more akin to those heard in ethnic or world music. The “words” are invented; in this respect the work is a vocalize, albeit one in which the vowels and consonants are specified.” – Karl Jenkins
