Advanced Painting: Oils are coming – So is NARRATIVE PAINTING

Some of you have NOT been properly instructed in CANVAS BUILDING. We are going to be patient and work through the process together. There is going to be a TEST so PAY ATTENTION to the demo – ask questions – pass with 100%!

CANVAS BUILDING TEST HERE (and in Google Classroom)

I will not let you do this without me by your side. Your safety is my MOST important concern.

Narrative Painting Assignment with Mark Tansey as an impetus – look at the REALISM! We are going to work in OILS when we get back.

Advanced Digital Art and Photography: Poster Design! What can you make a poster about? Let’s talk DESIGN APPROACHES as well.

Milton Glaser – One of Mr. Korb’s FAVORITES – was / is a phenomenal designer. You should know his work.

We are going to begin RE-learning the idea of Adobe InDesign. Posters are a HUGE part of what we do as artists and are HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER by many. Who has a poster in their room? What can you do to make this a project / art making experience you can be proud of?

HERE is the assignment – Let’s talk about the process and the layout ideas. There is a lot to learn.

Art Foundations – CLAY! Now… Make SURE you are wrapping it up tight – NO DRY CLAY OVER BREAK!

ANDILE DYALVANE – Artist Page HERE

This week is looking at the PLANS you have made, the assessment of your plans, the beginning of the clay container, and the WRAPPING IT UP TIGHTLY so that it is NOT DRIED OUT BY SPRING BREAK.

Let’s take a QUICK look at the work by Adile Dyalvane to see what we can all do with the WIDE VARIETY of requirements in this work

  • Additive
  • Subtraction
  • Slab
  • Coil
  • TEXTURE!

Canvas Building – a LIFELONG SKILL that might be missed without me! 🙂

We are working on an idea of narrative storytelling in our painting. We are also going to learn a LIFELONG SKILL and that is building a canvas. PAY ATTENTION to the demo and BE PATIENT. Safety is my #1 concern here.

NARRATIVE PAINTING ASSIGNMENT – Grimm’s Fairy Tales – Let’s Use THIS link and you can choose your own Fairy Tale. Think about the imagery that comes to mind and work up a FEW sketches so you are READY TO ROLL with the painting when we come back.

Intro to Digital Art and Photography: Adobe Illustrator

Hilma Af Klint at the Guggenheim Museum

Make sure you have your ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPH made when you get back from Spring Break. We are going to start then with the illustration of it in Adobe Illustrator.

Consider what it us to make a strong and successful photograph. The contrast. The storytelling. The imagery to draw the viewer in. What can you do to MAKE a photograph rather than to TAKE a picture. HERE is the assignment.
