Goals:

  1. 4.4 evaluate and interpret your art for relationships in 4.4.1 form 4.4.2 context and 4.4.3 meanings showing understanding of the work of various art professionals* – Answer this for your GOALS: What are the STRONG relationships you have with Kandinsky in his work and yours?

What did you take away from this overall DEEP and difficult project?

AP Studio Art: 1 Drawing today – 20 minute reclining figure – How about looking at a Henry Moore instead of the Mary Cassatt.

How did Henri Moore work the figures from the REAL to the SCULPTURAL? https://korbartwuhs.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/f0316-sculpturedrawings.png

Goals:

  1. 2.3 create artworks that solve visual challenges – ANSWER THIS: What has been the BIGGEST CHALLENGE you have faced with the idea / activity of the figure drawing? How will you handle 20 minutes today?

How did things go today? Look at everyones drawings and make comments about their figure drawings in their binders.

What did you hope to gain from yesterday? What do you hope to gain from today?

While in class we set goals in class based on the N.V.A.S. and the N.E.T.S… let’s take a look at our individual picture for a moment. Please think about the larger goal (NVAS) that is presented, but write out what we were hoping to gain from these experiences. It is always good to “look into the rear view mirror” to see who we were that made us who we are. Challenging to really see perhaps, but always good to think about and reflect upon.

“No matter how many goals you have achieved, you must set your sights on a higher one.” – Jessica Savitch

Go Waterford! I don’t think that was what Jasper Johns had in mind when he painted his green target. https://korbartwuhs.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/ae31e-johns_jasper_green_target_2.jpg

Art Foundations: Microscopic Images make for some HUGE Successes. Great work across the board!

Drawing: What does your music say to you? Perhaps revisit the song and see if it takes you where you wanted to go.

NOT Kandinsky but Klee – What was about this work that Hitler and the Nazi’s were so afraid of? Read the attached article to see more from the Neue Gallerie in New York City – Current Exhibit – Degenerate Art. http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Guardian/Pix/pictures/2014/3/13/1394725009303/Paul-Klee-1879-1940-The-A-001.jpg

How does your art compare with the work of “professionals” and how can you work to create a better understanding of your approach / intent / ideas? Please don’t think of worse than or better than, but rather compare / contrast, similar / different.

AP Studio Art: Great to be a GROUP again… Let’s draw MORE of US!

Where was Mary Cassatt FOCUSED and where did she demonstrate expression? We’re still GESTURING! http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/cassatt/theater.jpg

Goals:

  1. 3.2 apply our models poses, and idea of capturing the human form QUICKLY and use skill to capture that pose and form completely. What does this mean to you?

What are the strengths of the Composition? Where do you find the weaknesses in your work? How can you reflect tomorrow to change / alter  / move forward from that?

HIT YOUR TARGET – If you miss – shoot again!

What goals have you set for yourself? Are they BIG and BOLD? Are they small and subtle? Regardless as to the goals you have, make them attainable – but not too easy… you may get bored, and not too difficult… you may get frustrated. Just make them a smidge out of reach so you have to stretch!

“No matter how many goals you have achieved, you must set your sights on a higher one.” – Jessica Savitch

Jasper Johns – All sorts of approaches to his goals. http://www.christies.com/lotfinderimages/d53152/d5315228l.jpg

Art Foundations 2D: EXTENDED DEADLINES – So long as the GREAT WORK continues.

Goals:

  1. 2.3 Resolve (extended deadline) your pastel drawing as you solve visual challenges. ALSO Consider the reflection on your works.

Drawing: EXTENDED DEADLINES – So long as the GREAT WORK continues.

Goals:

AP Studio Art: Gesture Drawing – Remember this stuff? Let’s see what you can do.

Goals:

  1. 1.2 create gesture drawings that demonstrates an understanding of how your ideas and observations (and mark making) relates to the 1.2.1 materials, 1.2.2 techniques, 1.2.3 and processes you use.

  2. 1.3 communicate ideas clearly

What was most difficult about the drawings today? what were the things that you found fun? What is your largest fear of the human form?
