My daughter told me this as I was looking at the setting of the sun behind the crisp edge of clouds and blue sky.

AP Studio Art –

  1. (3.5) Evaluate and defend the manner in which subject matter, symbols, and images are used.
  2. (5.1) Identify the intentions and purposes behind artists making visual art.

Advanced Drawing – Eyes

  1. (1.4) Solve challenging visual problems using intellectual skills of analysis, synthesis, and evaluation.
  2. (1.1) Apply media, technique, and processes with skill, confidence, and sensitivity that your intentions are carried out.

PaintingPlein Air Paintings

  1. (5.2) Defend your critiquing and evaluation of purpose and / or unsuccessfulness of particular works of art.
  2. (3.5) Evaluate and defend the sources (images, symbols…) of and techniques (ways in which materials have been used) behind the completion of visual art.

Art Foundations – Staircases

  1. (1.1) Apply technique and process with skill, confidence, and sensitivity that your intentions are successful in your visual art.
  2. (5.1) Identify intent (learn 2 point perspective), purpose (create form on flat picture plane), and evaluation (how’d you do?) of visual art.

Back to my daughters statement from above: What does it mean to you for someone (or yourself) to look at the world through a different set of eyes than someone else? Why might my daughter have said this to me? What does it mean to you to respond to the world with wonderment and awe? Have fun figuring it out… have a great and awe inspiring weekend!
