NOTE: Sketchbook Modifications for all classes! Two grades will be earned for sketchbooks: Execution (mastry of materials) and composition (arrangement of elements through principles in art). Each is worth 50% of the final grade and allow you to track your levels of ability and learning in the process. ALSO: Three questions must be answered: 1) What challenged me in this sketch? 2) What was successful in the sketch? 3) What was my HONEST level of effort? (1-5 like on goal sheet, 5 being high 1 being low or A – F like in your report cards).

AP Studio ArtJim Dine, Flowers and Plants, More Jim Dine

  1. Know about Jim Dine’s historical context and his floral / fauna observational artworks.
  2. Work on observational flora /fauna artworks.
  3. Work on quality use of challenging art mediums.

Advanced DrawingPlein Air Sketching

  1. Know about the successes and failures of your own works and how to carry the lessons learned forward into your next artwork.
  2. Work on plein air observational drawing and the challenges they pose versus in studio sketches.

PaintingAndrew Claire Fletcher

  1. Work on successful oral critiques of personal and classmates artwork.
  2. Know about the successes and failures in your and classmates works from critiquing.
  3. Kbow about the important information learned / gained from written and oral critiques.

Art Foundations 2DGlue and Portrait

  1. Work on successful use of various techniques with art mediums. (Spraymount, X-Acto knives)
  2. Work on careful and responsible use of art tools.
  3. Know about the unique qualities of mixed media art works.
