“Advice about your paintings is difficult.  As I said before, I cannot interest myself in whether they will pass juries or not. More paintings have been spoiled during the process of their making, through such considerations, than the judgements of juries are worth.” – Robert Henri – Artist / Art Teacher

Welcome to Homecoming Week. I will be donning my costumes for the week – will you? Lots of artwork coming due this and next week. Let’s keep up the hard work and make ourselves proud. You guys have worked hard and are learning the process behind making art. Keep working! – Mr. Korb

Drawing: Books and Observation

Develop Craft: Learning to use tools, materials, artistic conventions; and learning to care for tools, materials, and space.

How are you going to move forward with the work in front of you? What sorts of ideas are you going to use to resolve on the collage?

Studio Art 360: Copper Bas-Relief

1.2P: Shape an artistic investigation of an aspect of present-day life using a contemporary practice of art or design.

How satisfied are you with your 5” x 5” design? Do you see new and unique ways to make lines and be more aware of the marks that you are making in the art that you are making?

Where Does #MrKorb go all the time?

I’m in CHICAGO today with the AP Studio Artists and we are looking at THOUSANDS of artworks from all around the world. This gathering of Contemporary Art (maybe some Modern) is called Expo Chicago – the Mid-West’s largest and most important art show of the year. I hope you can make it down there this weekend to see the work. I’ll be back tomorrow – see you then.

Mr. Korb

I trust that you can BEGIN on the FINAL DRAWING – maybe assembling the collage of book pages – and we are going to WORK today.

Open your handbook to page 10 and respond to the following questions: How have you achieved success today? Name 3 things on page 10 in the handbook.

Studio Art 360: Zentangle, Sol LeWitt, Animals

2.1P: Engage in making a work of art or design without having a preconceived plan.

How successful did you feel with your ZENTANGLE designs from yesterday?

Remember to glance past these examples from last year – HERE.

SPECIAL NOTE: Today you are going to find an animal or flower ONLINE and use that image for an inside the ZENTANGLE design you started yesterday. Use the drawing you came up with yesterday and then combine it with a new animal or flower. I have examples that you will look at in a moment. This is going to become a COPPER PLATE BAS RELIEF drawing that will be worked up – you need to FOCUS. I am NOT WORRIED!

Open your handbook to page 10 and respond to the following questions: Well now – what were THREE things you were SUCCESSFUL with or that you STRUGGLED with?

AP Studio Art: I really miss you today!

2.2Ad: Demonstrate understanding of the importance of balancing freedom and responsibility in the use of images, materials, tools, and equipment in the creation and circulation of creative work.

As a body / concentration of works, what have you found as interesting, worthwhile for 1) YOU to create and 2) the audience to sit and look at? 3) Holding it together as an intense study of the topic?

Reflection: What have been your first marks – ideas you are making in the idea of the portrait?
