While I appreciate the late starts for staff meetings and the like, the shortness of time with my artists is very valuable and miss that extended time with you. Today is a STRONG day to WORK WORK WORK and get things done. Be ready to be active and WORK today.

What do you need to do TODAY? Hurry to get it done – BUT WELL! Can you add color, texture, images to the book pages?

What do you feel you need to do in order to be focused and intentional in the work you are creating? One aspect of this work is to know that the marks you are making are permanent – cannot be taken out – one and done. How do you work with the mistakes that you might make?

How did yesterday’s drawings help you, move your, challenge you as it comes to OBSERVATION and DETAILS? We are moving forward from a the CONTINUOUS LINE to a more modeled / polished / rendered image.

Breadth Drawing – Large Scale Study of Hands and Feet – Began with Contour Drawings in charcoal. Introduce classical studies of human figures and body parts. Renaissance artists such as Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci. Refer to the Scholastic Arts Magazines on Both of the artists. Brown paper and conte crayons for the hands and feet drawings. The Hands must be holding an object and the feet must be bare and pushing on or off of something. Look at the tendons and the muscles – how does the underlying structure show through?

What are your thoughts as to the beginning of this drawing? How have you used the ideas from yesterday to develop your compositions for this final work?

Inspiration is NOT what it takes to make art – making art is what it takes. There are a lot of sketchbook assignments that are in need of REDOING this week – Drawing and AP Artists. What is it that get’s in your way of making art? My excuse – time. Putting out all the fires in the day and then getting to my own studio is the challenge. No Excuses – GO MAKE ART! Korb.
