Art Foundations 2D – Chuck Close

  1. Work on mathematical ratios and transferring images / blending colors.
  2. (1.2) Create art that demonstrates an understanding of how your ideas relate to the (1.2.1) materials (1.2.3) and processes you use.
What have you done to really understand the PROCESS of making art? What do you find the most difficult about making art in Art Foundations? Do you look at your drawing with a sense of “WOW – How did I do that?” or with one of “Crud… how did I do that? Yikes?”

  1. Work on PERSONAL still life artwork that has meaning.
  2. (2.6) Create multiple solutions to visual challenges that show understanding in relationships between composition and meaning in your artwork.
What are you using as your objects? Who is one of the Abstract Artists you have looked at? What is it about Abstract art that you think is “easy” or is “difficult”?

  1. Know visually how fabric folds over the human figure / emphasizes folds, chiaroscuro, and correct proportion.
  2. (2.3) Create art that solves visual challenges.

What is it about the charcoal, the observation, the subject matter, the working arrangements, this artistic challenge that has challenged you, has made you really think about the process of making art? What have you learned from this art making experience that will take you forward?
