The arts teach students to think through and within a material. – All art forms employ some means through which images become real.

Art Foundations 2DPerspective

  1. (1.4.1) Create and solve visual challenges using analysis (rules of perspective – everything we have done so far)
  2. (3.3) Describe (WORK with your neighbor) the creation of images and explain why they are of value (how will you use this outside of art class in the future).

Requirements for today’s in class Drawing

  • Horizon Line wherever you want in the picture plane.
  • Vanishing Points at the outside edge of your picture plane.
  • Cube (house).
  • Windows and door on the building that show depth and the inside walls, floor and / or ceiling.
  • Peaked roof with an overhang off the front and back.
  • Sidewalk that recedes correctly into space.
  • Stairs with at least 3 steps up (to the door for an extra challenge).
  • Draw one additional box that overlaps the house or is overlapped by the house.
  • Shading on the front of the house, lighter shading on the side of the house, additional shading on the inside of the building and any other shading you may be able to get into the composition.

AP Studio Art – Mies van der Rohe

  1. (2.2) Evaluate the effectiveness of artworks.
  2. (2.3) compare different points of view regarding composition and meaning in artwork. (pair / share)

Drawing

  1. (3.1) reflect on how art differs and describe how it relates to history, and culture (yours).
  2. (3.4) evaluate and defend the validity of sources for ideas
