The arts teach students to think through and within a material.

All art forms employ some means through which images become real.

Art Foundations Sidewalks

  1. (1.4.1) Create and solve visual challenges (sidewalks) using analysis (rules of perspective)
  2. (1.1) Apply process with skill and confidence.

Review with neighbors the process of perspective center and sidewalks. What about learning roofs yesterday and reviewing them today helped you understand the ideas of the sidewalk easier (or was it harder)?

AP Studio ArtCritique

  1. (3.1) reflect on how art differs and describe how it relates to history, and culture (yours).
  2. (3.4) evaluate and defend the validity of sources for ideas.

What did you take away from today to put into the future works? What can you take away from the many statements about the 16 habits of the mind (page 40 in the handbook). What do you think about the works based on the same hosta image?

DrawingPaper Bag 1, Paper Bag 2

  1. (1.2) Create art that demonstrates an understanding of how your ideas relate to materials, techniques and process.

How has working through the MANY preliminary drawings helped you develop an stronger composition than simply running foreward with your first idea. What sort of compositon (look in the handbook at compositional techniques) would you say it is?
