What 2 things are you most pleased with regarding the works you see / made out Art and Fear? ASSIGNMENT – Symbolism and BREADTH – You need to bring in a couple of still life objects that can easily be held in your hand (which will be photographed and then printed) to practice the ideas of observation. What have you got that you can bring in that helps to really tell about yourself, your interests, your passions? The practice of the still life – observation – is a skill that readers (AP and the rest of the art viewing world) recognize as important to the building of the skills of an artist. How can you demonstrate those skills? Many drawings? One Drawing? How can you use the time to really build your BREADTH?

Extra Credit Options in Mr. Korb’s Art Room: come in during the afternoon to help get the Art Studio Polished and Ready for 2nd Semester to begin. Desks to clean, lockers to square up, pencil bags and supplies to restock and organize. There is a lot to do that our ICE DAY took away – so if you are in need of some points and character building… come in to demonstrate your concern for a well set up studio.

EXAM SCHEDULE

5th Hour 7:25 – 8:55am – Drawing

4th Hour 9:05 – 10:35am – Korb’s Room Needs CLEANING

3rd Hour 10:45 – 12:15pm – Painting

  • Buses leave at 12:25pm
  • Detentions start at 12:30 in room 114
  • Cafeteria is closed after the last test hour

All students must complete their detention obligations before the end of the semester. See above semester exam schedule for detention times.

Attention students: We will NOT distribute a paper copy of your 2nd semester schedule. You will need to log into Power School and click on the “grade/attendance” screen. From that screen you will have the option of either looking at your schedule or printing it out.

Second semester schedule changes must be completed by end of exams on Thursday, January 19, 2017.

Last Day of the Quarter and #School’sCancelled for the Day.

With a phone call from Mr. Foster this morning at 6:00 – we all learned that SCHOOL’S OUT for the day. Well… There is still work to be done.

  • Locker clean out will happen after hours on exam day.
  • Extra Credit in character will be available for everyone who wants to help out in the afternoons of exam day.
  • Paintings that need completing – after exams if you need it – otherwise CALL ME and we will figure something out. 
  • Would I rather be in school – you bet. Are you happy we do not have school – I am sure you are.

#28: An idea is only as good as its execution. It is important that you master your medium. Poorly made work will either ruin a good idea or make the lamentable execution itself the subject. Overly finessed technique can mask a lack of content or can smother an image. At the same time, roughness and imprecision has its place in rendering.
