THANK YOU to all the staff, students, and farmers at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin and Hillside School. We had an incredible day of touring, eating, and painting on the grounds. Please visit the photo album we have created to see all that we experienced. Thank you Cate, Caroline, and Becky for all your help!
Photo Album HERE! Add to it if you can! Talk to me kids – TALK TO ME!
Tuesday and Thursday we will be meeting at WADEWITZ CAMPGROUNDS. NOT at the High School. It is a half hour walk to the camp from the high school so… it is just easier to meet there. PLEASE LET ME KNOW if you need better directions than this map attachment. http://www.ArtWithKorb will have it on the page too
Wednesday we are LEAVING at 8:00 – please be here by 7:45 so all the stuff can be gathered and we can get on the road. Extra money for dinner – a Culver’s or McDonalds type stop. If you are NOT going – please plan 3 hours at some point(s) during the day and be ready to share that with us / me on Thursday!
During a trip to Ripon College, I got my daily dose of color theory. This has given me pause to reconsider all the other color ideas I might have been wrong on after all these years. If you have any ideas, send them my way and I’ll post them for you.
Some of the images from Tuesday’s Class… and my trip to Madison and Monona Terrace…
The weather has been great and I hope the conversation about the Summer Art Course, Plein Air Art, has been too. Please take 3 minutes to watch my video (link below) for the painters tomorrow as Mr. Roberts will be in for me the remaining days this week.
If you are going on the field trip (and I REALLY hope you are) please bring in the $50 ASAP – by Thursday LATEST! I need to get a check written and it takes a day or two. I also need to know how many vehicles we are taking – one van or a van and a car – so PLEASE – REPLY to me with your child’s name (or you if you are the artist reading this) that you ARE going or NOT going. I have one check and I know ONE person besides myself, my wife, and my mom that are going.
I’m seeing great LEARNING happening here this summer! Wonderful conversations and visual discoveries. Please check outwww.ArtWithKorb.com and subscribe if you haven’t already to see what we are up to. Also – www.facebook.com/ArtWithKorb is another place. Thanks – see you artists Monday!
PS – Don’t forget an umbrella if it looks like rain!
Today we started with ACRYLICS as well as some SELF-EVALUATION. The three different National Visual Arts Standards Based Rubrics are all focused on the different levels of abilities and skills and standards that high school art students ought to be confident in as they leave certain levels of their art making career. These have been developed over the past two years and really broken down over the first part of the summer vacation. Please enjoy them and see if there are aspects of them YOU might utilize.
HELLO and good day to the June 16, 2016 Communication 2.1 with Frank Korb. I hope that you are able to stick around for the 20 minutes that it takes to watch the following video. If you leave, I will NEVER KNOW!
To the person who is standing there waiting for you to all sit and watch once you hit the play button on the YouTube video below
please make it full screen
check the volume
that’s it for 20 minutes
There is a survey I’d like to have you fill out at the end – http://goo.gl/lfteIz – if you would like to. Thanks for joining me today – I hope your conference goes GREAT!
I hope that you enjoyed my presentation (or at the very least were able to get through it alright) and are able to use some of the ideas I am presenting to help create more 2.1 lines of communication with your students, parents, and the world.
Welcome to Google Forms and autoCrat. I certainly hope that all goes well and you are not only informed about the process that one can go through to use Google Forms / Google Sheets and autoCrat – but that you are fully entertained in the process. I have included the presentation above for your viewing pleasure (so you can go back to it at any time you need to). If you have any questions – please do not hesitate to contact me.

Welcome to the SUMMER and to the Plein Air Art Course at WUHS! We are off to a GREAT START with 8 students taking the opportunity to get some painting and drawing in for the next 4 weeks. We talked a bit today about the process of going out and painting and then we did just that. Watercolors were the first day’s medium (and first week for that matter) and we will talk technique Tuesday – and then PAINT! Hope for NO RAIN!
After a couple of hours experimenting with watercolors…
… the group seemed tired! MORE TO PAINT!
I need a couple of permission slips to get off campus so… please use the FORM BELOW if you are one of the three parents who need to enter information! THANKS!
Welcome to summer vacation. It has been a great school year with a lot of incredible artworks being made. There was a lot of artwork left in the studio last week and, against my better judgement (or best judgement) I am going to let it all stay in the room for the weeks of the summer school painting class.
Plein Air painting is going to be a great painting activity. We are going to be doing a lot of work from Watercolors to acrylics to pastels – maybe even a print or two. NEW MATERIALS WEEKLY and then… YOU get your choice of materials! Woo Hoo! I am in the works of speaking with the Taliesin Preservation Organization in Spring Green, WI and looking forward to a long day of driving, touring, painting, drawing, and a brown bag lunch and dinner on the way home.
If you have any art questions – high minded questions, basic technique questions, purchasing of easels or anything else… let me know!
