Alright Artists… we’re back at it very shortly!

Welcome to the Studio!

Hello everyone! I am so glad to be back in the Fort Atkinson School District for my 2nd year! This is my 24th year teaching and I am really looking forward to it! Art Foundations, Painting, Advanced Painting, Digital Art and Photography, Advanced Digital Art and Photography, and DRAWING! I am really excited about all the work we are going to create and all the new learning we are going to experience. I am ALSO going to be making a lot of new art and experiences for myself this year with the MARN (Milwaukee Art Resource Network) Mentors Program. Alright artists, a week left to go. Enjoy the vacation time and I will see you in one week (or so).

Revision of the Studio Art Rubrics – NVAS Specific! I am thrilled!

WELCOME to the newest series of rubrics that my all of my studio classes for the 2019 – 2020 school year. I am excited that they have been revised, simplified (3/4 of the words have been removed – or thereabouts) and that the National Visual Arts Standards have been specifically identified. One specific thing about the rubrics that I stand behind is that they are the same across the board – all artworks get the same rubric (based on level of course of course). I realize that this is exciting to me and a very small audience, but I am really happy to get to work with the artists and create a really strong body of work with each and every one of them.

I know that this is a level of excitement that few people will share with me, but, in order to help the artists develop a strong set of self-reflection and self-evaluation skills and to also create a really strong set of artworks – the following rubrics are here for your perusal. Enjoy.

The Waterford 7 back at it

it’s great to be working with the Waterford 7 again as we build our large individual pieces that work into a much larger group project. Looking at the artist David Hockney, we’re doing plant images all from one garden. In the end we’re going to put them all together and create one large painting. Excellent work so far, very focused. They certainly know how to make the color brown.

shoulder surgery and paintings are happening

My shoulder has been operated on and recovery is happening. A big thanks to Julie for helping out and taking care of me. Here’s my first painting and my large canvas waiting in my studio.
