#TeacherTraining and #BackToSchool in the #Arts

img_20180827_120242

What a GREAT day (and past few days). New teacher training and convocation (day one of welcome back staff). I’ve learned a lot of new names (and forgot a bunch of them already – sorry folks) and the technical ends of the building (copy machines, faster ways through the building, who to talk to for help). I am still sad to not be with my friends in the old space, but I am really excited to see and meet new friends.

To my students from Waterford – THANK YOU for all you have taught me and given to me. I will always have great memories and knowledge that I impacted your lives and know that you impacted mine. To my NEW students (you aren’t subscribed at the time of this posting) thank you for all that you are going to give to me. I look forward to sharing my experiences and knowledge with you. I can’t wait to to see what we are able to come up with in the arts rooms together!

Ok? Next post – GOALS and PLANS for the week. See you all soon!

Art Foundations, Introduction to Painting (Watercolors and Acrylics), and Introduction to Digital Arts!

#Waterford Seven is Back at it!

#WaterfordSeven worked hard on two artworks today. Prepping for #Dine / #Haring / #Kahlo #Hearts and continuing on their #PleinAir #landscapes and #flowers

Landscapes and Flowers: Plein Air(esque)

The Waterford Seven took the opportunity today to begin the two week journey of landscapes or flower paintings. Last week we began by prepping our canvases in orange as to give us a bright background to work on top of this week. After we did that we worked through the ideas of color mixing with acrylics and created some abstractions. We tested our color mixing ideas this week by beginning to add in the sky or greens of the plant life and grasses in the compositions. The process is a long one and the “W7” are really showing their sense of grit.

New classroom… New school…

It’s taking time… My office and classroom are starting to feel like mine.

#WaterfordSeven classes began today! #Artmaking with #Paint

My new session began with the Waterford Seven today. This is going to be a summer of PAINTING for the group. An incredibly happy and energetic group of artists. Today we began with prepping our canvases with orange and then we moved onto color mixing… SURPRISE – Lessons with color is FUN! (I said it Connie.) Next week we are taking those canvases and making up landscapes!

Monday we meet in the Classroom.

This has been a quick 3 weeks. One more week, 4 more days, 12 more hours, 4+ more paintings. On MONDAY we will meet in the classroom to talk about the rest of the week. See you then.

AP Scores are in… and the people who passed are…

EVERYONE! We had a 100% Pass Rate in our AP Class! Way to go. A couple of 5’s, a few 4’s, and we wrap with 3’s! This is SPECTACULAR! Congratulations AP’ers! I am SO PROUD OF YOUR YEAR!

Taliesin 2018 with the Plein Air Artists!

What a day! Thank you to Becky, Caroline, Floyd, and our tour guide Cate (as well as Tracy for being a fantastic driver and chaperone) for an incredible day at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin and Hilltop School. We toured and ate (a fantastic lunch with the farmers, students, teachers, and the president of the architecture school) and toured some more. Then we went off to paint. Acrylics are great – but truth be told… I need some more practice. Enjoy the images!
