8th Grade Sculpture: GLAZING – Finally
We are going to spend about a week and do the glazing, fire, clean things up, and then assess the work. Make sure you keep the glaze off the bottom. We have to have the bottoms cleanly sponged off so that they do NOT stick to the kiln shelves.

We are going to look at the cameras that we have in the department as well as the cameras that you have in your hands always. There are some skills that we are going to be working on that are different than what you use on a daily basis AND when you start thinking about the new techniques – you will make stronger photographs for yourself as well.

Adobe Photoshop is a professional program that we are going to begin to explore. BE patient and PAY ATTENTION to the instructions. This is challenging and can be a lot of fun as well.

We are researching and designing our own USEABLE and FUNCTIONAL paper mache sculptures. This is an example of a sculptural object – what kind of FUNCTIONAL object can you create?
Working from YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS we will be creating landscape paintings in acrylic! This is one of MY FAVORITE activities to do as an artist. I LOVE landscape paintings… here is one of mine from a few years back… a plein air approach at Taliesin in Spring Green, WI.

Think about how Santiago Calatrava used the Parabola as he designed the Milwaukee Art Museum. Unique – YES. Original – YES. His Own – YES!
