Welcome to Ms. Ava Sandersen from UW-Milwaukee. She will be joining us as our student teacher at Forest Park Middle School for some time now. WELCOME! It is going to be GREAT to have you here.

One more week! Before I begin… HERE is a link to the new STANDARDS BASED RUBRICS that the 7th graders REBUILT. The original was fine and written lovely for a teacher – NOW the kids had a hand in it and the standards are things they can check off and see that they have met the baseline for the standards.   • We are ALL inspired by a work of art and artist from one of 4 movements in art history.

  • We are going to look at the standards in the Rubric and see it we can improve the student facing part of it all so it is easier for the kiddo to know about and understand.

  • Step 1  – Start with a wedged potato of clay.
  • Step 2  – Throw it down as close to the center as possible.
  • Step 3- Use the palm of one hand and the side of the other hand.
  • Step 4  – Don’t let the clay move your hands, make your hands move the clay.
  • Step 5  – Spend a lot of time on the wheel
