Where Does #MrKorb go all the time?

I’m in CHICAGO today with the AP Studio Artists and we are looking at THOUSANDS of artworks from all around the world. This gathering of Contemporary Art (maybe some Modern) is called Expo Chicago – the Mid-West’s largest and most important art show of the year. I hope you can make it down there this weekend to see the work. I’ll be back tomorrow – see you then.

Drawing: Still Life – TAKE YOUR TIME

Reflect: Learning to think and talk with others about an aspect of one’s work or working process, and learning to judge one’s own work and working process and the work of others.

Anselm Kiefer and the idea of using BOOKS as the subject matter. https://italianintransito.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/anselm-kiefer-naglfar.jpg

I trust that you can BEGIN on the FINAL DRAWING – maybe assembling the collage of book pages – and we are going to WORK today.

Open your handbook to page 10 and respond to the following questions: How have you achieved success today? Name 3 things on page 10 in the handbook.

Studio Art 360: Zentangle, Sol LeWitt, Animals

2.1P: Engage in making a work of art or design without having a preconceived plan.

How successful did you feel with your ZENTANGLE designs from yesterday?

Remember to glance past these examples from last year – HERE.

SPECIAL NOTE: Today you are going to find an animal or flower ONLINE and use that image for an inside the ZENTANGLE design you started yesterday. Use the drawing you came up with yesterday and then combine it with a new animal or flower. I have examples that you will look at in a moment. This is going to become a COPPER PLATE BAS RELIEF drawing that will be worked up – you need to FOCUS. I am NOT WORRIED!

Open your handbook to page 10 and respond to the following questions: Well now – what were THREE things you were SUCCESSFUL with or that you STRUGGLED with?

AP Studio Art: I really miss you today!

2.2Ad: Demonstrate understanding of the importance of balancing freedom and responsibility in the use of images, materials, tools, and equipment in the creation and circulation of creative work.

As a body / concentration of works, what have you found as interesting, worthwhile for 1) YOU to create and 2) the audience to sit and look at? 3) Holding it together as an intense study of the topic?

This can be SIMPLE BLACK and WHITE. Don’t get LOST in the details all the time. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/1c/36/5e/1c365e21960f7905351d60fea2dd789f.jpg

Monday is the critique – what are things you need to do to FINISH the PROJECT? Lots of DRAWINGS!

Jerry Saltz – Advice to Art Students (A NEW ONE EACH DAY!)

9) Everyone is sincere. Even Jeff Koons. He’s kinda weird and speaks like a Teletubby but even he’s capable of creating the flower Puppy that made me so incredibly happy. It was like The Beatles.

Drawing: Books and Oil Pastels

1.2Ac: Choose from a range of materials and methods of traditional and contemporary artistic practices to plan works of art and design.

How are you working the background differently than you might if it were the same paper you originally drew on?

Using the pages to draw on: Cool! http://www.freshcharacters.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/DRAWINGS_IN_BOOKS_7.jpg

What are skill syou might carry into the next artwork – or artworks down the road?

Studio Art 360: BALANCE and Organic Objects

1.2P: Shape an artistic investigation of an aspect of present-day life using a contemporary practice of art or design.

What do you feel you need to do in order to be focused and intentional in the work you are creating? One aspect of this work is to know that the marks you are making are permanent – cannot be taken out – one and done. How do you work with the mistakes that you might make?

Advanced Drawing: Fast Food

Paper Bag Drawings http://www.utdallas.edu/~mel024000/pages/2D_Design/PaperBagDrawing/paperbagdraw.jpg

Talk to your neighbor / partner about the potential meaning behind your work. What SKILLS are you hoping to develop in this drawing? What types of bags are you hoping to bring in and use to communicate a message through this work with?
