Week 15 – Can you believe we have FEWER than 12 days together? We have WORK TO GET DONE and we NEED to work – USE YOUR BEST STUDIO HABITS to get the work done!

This was a DAY WITH GLASSES and a strong time in my painting years… COVID and QUARANTINE too. I LOVE the Studio Habits as an artist and work to instill them in to the hands of the kiddo’s I work with. What are YOUR studio Habits?

One of the BIGGEST CHALLENGES I see with 8th graders and your understanding of what art is and what it can be is that you don not have a wide view of the world of the arts. The IMAGE, the PICTURE has to be something and it has to be correct (in many of the 8th graders eyes) and sometimes it can be and should be about the mark making… the act of making art. Sol Le Witt nailed this!

Week 10 – Welcome to 4th Quarter

I can choose solutions to problems and describe the impact of my choices on myself and others.

51: Learn the basic principles of color. There are three primary colors: red, blue, and yellow. They are the building blocks of all other colors.   • This has been a good week of work. We started with drawing out our plants, cutting into our linoleum, and resolving them for printing. We have also worked with creating successful slabs by rolling them out for today. Finally, today we took all of that information and put it all together successfully and you’ve resolved your boxes. What are three things about this process that you initially struggled with but in the end found a sense of success, accomplishment with? Write it out and then share it with your neighbor. Have a great weekend!

WHAT’s the Assignment? If you need another 1, 2, or 3 concentration works – this is your assignment (one at the minimum). You will have your WEBSITE updated with 12 concentration works – PERIOD. You will rework your statements and answers to the AP Questions… ALL DUE on MARCH 30 for CRITIQUE & PRESENTATION.
